Michael Lerner, a famous character actor nominated for an Oscar and who had notable roles as bombastic characters in Barton Fink, Harlem Nights, Eight Men Out, and many other films, has passed away. He was 81.
According to a message on Instagram by his nephew Sam Lerner, who also works as an actor (on ABC’s The Goldbergs), Lerner passed away on Saturday night. It was not immediately clear what caused the death.
Sam remarked, “It’s hard to put into words how brilliant my uncle Michael was, and how influential he was to me. His stories always inspired me and made me fall in love with acting.”
“He was the coolest, most confident, talented guy, and the fact that he was my blood will always make me feel special. Everyone that knows him knows how insane he was — in the best way.”
