Taylor Swift has been approached by Tampa Mayor Jane Castor to take over her duties for a day while on The Eras Tour. According to an official statement from the Tampa government, Florida City has decided to step up the ante in honor of Taylor Swift and her fans. Towns that have hosted the singer on The Eras Tour have changed their names, lit landmarks, and even erected street signs.
“We know Glendale changed its name, Arlington made a street sign, and Vegas illuminated their Gateway Arches. But here in Tampa we’ve got a reputation to uphold… and we want to go BIGGER,” the mayor was quoted as adding in the statement.

Castor gives Swift a key to the city and asks her to serve as mayor for the day in videos posted to the City of Tampa’s Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and other social media accounts. To get Swift’s attention and entice her to serve as “Mayor Swift,” the city is urging Swift’s supporters worldwide to share the video and tag the singer on social media.
Also, from sundown to sunrise on Thursday, the Old City Hall, Tampa Riverwalk, and downtown bridges will light in “Taylor Swift Red.”
