Abon’go Malik “Roy” Obama (born March 1958) is the eldest son of economist Barack Obama Sr. and a Kenyan and American businessman and politician best known as the older half-brother of President Barack Obama.
Who is Malik Obama?
Abongo Malik “Roy” Obama was raised in Nairobi, Kenya, where he was born. Barack Obama Sr., an economist, and Kezia Obama (née Aoko), his first wife, are his parents. Obama graduated from the University of Nairobi with a degree in accountancy.
Barack Obama, his younger half-brother, visited Malik in 1985 after traveling by plane from Chicago to Washington, D.C. At the wedding of the other, each of them was the best man. Three years later, Barack brought Michelle Obama to Kenya, where they reunited with Malik and got to know many other relatives for the first time.
Obama is a Muslim. Malik Obama chooses the calm pace of the village of Nyang’oma Kogelo, the ancestral home of the Obama family, to the fast pace of the metropolis. He managed a small electronics store in a different town a half-hour’s drive away until 2004.
Obama has been in charge of the Barack H. Obama Foundation since 2008. Most members of the Obama family, including Malik, still regard their small town on the beaches of Lake Victoria as their true home, even though many of them have scattered throughout Kenya and abroad.
They consider those who have left the village “lost” in culture. Obama holds dual citizenship with Kenya and the US. He travels to the country frequently and spends several months a year working as a consultant in Washington, D.C. As of 2016, he was eligible to vote in Maryland.

How Did Malik Obama Strat His Political & Advocacy Career?
Malik Obama represented the more prominent Obama family in Kenya as a spokesperson during his brother’s 2008 presidential campaign. He addressed the safety and privacy issues the increased news coverage brought on.
In 2013, Obama ran for governor of Siaya County in Kenya. In allusion to his half-brother, who was in his second term as President of the United States, he ran with the slogan “Obama here, Obama there.” Malik received 2,792 votes, approximately 140,000 fewer than the winner.
Obama declared his support for Republican Party nominee Donald Trump before the 2016 US presidential election. He was one of Trump’s guests at the third presidential debate.
On June 12, 2020, Malik apparently gave Donald Trump his support, and later that week he produced a fictitious and historically incorrect birth certificate of Barack Obama in support of conspiracy theories over Barack Obama’s citizenship.
Despite the Republic of Kenya not being established until December 12, 1964, the birth certificate claims that Obama was born there in 1961. The fake Kenyan certificate also had a seal that said South Australia, further proving its forgery. He was criticized for endorsing the thesis by his sister Auma and others.
