In the episode of “Live” airing on Monday, Kelly Ripa welcomed her husband Mark Consuelos as a new co-host. The couple, who co-starred on “All My Children” together, entered the now-named “Live with Kelly and Mark” set holding hands as “2 Be Loved (Am I Ready)” by Lizzo played. They have been married since 1996 and have three adult children together.
Mark Consuelos joined Ripa immediately after they took their seats, and she joked, “Joining me today and permanently until one of us dies is Mark Consuelos.” The former “Riverdale” star adopted a more sentimental tack, saying, “I just want to say a quick thank you for trusting me to be your co-pilot. I’m really grateful for it.
They also mentioned that Lola, their only daughter and middle child, was present in the crowd at the event. In addition to two billboards announcing Consuelos’ new job, Ripa unveiled a new sign displaying the new title of the ABC morning talk show. He also made a joke about how “this is all feeling very permanent.”

“Oh, honey,” Ripa said. Nothing in this place is permanent, as you are aware—obviously, not me. In February, it was revealed that Consuelos would replace Ryan Seacrest on “Live” and would work with Ripa. Consuelos has previously co-hosted “Live” a number of times, but never as a regular co-host. The co-host of Ripa’s show for the previous six years, Seacrest, announced his departure to concentrate on hosting “American Idol.”
At the time, Ripa introduced Consuelos as her new co-host. “We are so aware of the importance of continuity and consistency and the familial vibe that we all have here, it only makes sense to… bring in somebody that we know and love and who’s really always been here,” Ripa said.
The addition of Consuelos to the program, according to Ripa and Seacrest, was referred to as “the nation’s weirdest social experiment”; later, the couple announced on Instagram that they had entered “the contractual obligation phase of our relationship.”
