Twilight TV series in the works

Twilight TV Series is Coming Soon: All The Latest Details

The Twilight Saga is coming to TV. Sources told The Hollywood Reporter that Lionsgate Television is in the early stages of making a series based on the best-selling book series by Stephenie Meyer.

Sinead Daly is set to write the story for Twilight. She has worked on movies like Tell Me Lies, The Walking Dead: World Beyond, Raised by Wolves, Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency, and The Get Down.

Sources say that Daly is working with Lionsgate TV to figure out how the Twilight movie will be made and whether or not it will be a remake of Meyer’s books or something else.

The Twilight TV series is just starting out and does not yet have a network or platform. Sources say that the studio, which owns the rights to the brand, plans to lead the development of the project before shopping for the rights to the package. There isn’t a date set yet for when the Twilight books will be available for sale.

These Seasons Are Worth the Watch:

Sources say that the author Meyer is likely to be involved in the TV show. Wyck Godfrey and Erik Feig, who was co-president of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group and bought the rights to the Twilight book series after Paramount Pictures passed on them while he was at Summit Entertainment, are both set to executive produce the TV version.

All five movies that Feig’s Summit sold were made by Godfrey’s Temple Hill label. The movie series made stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner and made more than $3.4 billion around the world. Representatives from Lionsgate Television wouldn’t say anything.

Twilight is a very important part of Lionsgate’s collection. In 2017, five years after Breaking Dawn: Part 2, the last movie based on Meyer’s book, Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer told Wall Street during an earnings call, “There are a lot more stories to be told, and we’re ready to tell them when our creators are ready to tell those stories.” He was talking about both the Twilight and The Hunger Games franchises.

Lionsgate has been talking with multiple bidders about selling its film business and premium cable network Starz by the end of September 2023. The news of a Twilight TV show comes at the same time. The studio business of Lionsgate, which makes movies and TV shows, grew by 25% in the third quarter, bringing in nearly $900 million.

Lionsgate TV has also recently said that author Steven S. DeKnight will make a sequel series to Spartacus. Spartacus: Blood and Sand and the prequel miniseries Gods of the Arena were both made by Lionsgate TV. The franchise is still an important part of the studio’s library.

Pop Base just confirmed a TV series is in the works:

Lionsgate and Starz recently brought back the show Party Down, and the company is looking into making a sequel to the Showtime comedy Weeds. Reboots are easier to market and stand out from the crowd, and they also help increase the value of older titles in the library.

After being on Netflix for a while, the Twilight movies are now available to watch on Peacock, which is owned by NBCUniversal. The Twilight series comes at a time when HBO Max has just revealed that it is in the early stages of making a TV show based on J.K. Rowling’s popular book series Harry Potter.

The show will run for ten years, and the controversial author will be an executive producer. Genre programming is still very popular.  Amazon released a new version of The Lord of the Rings last year, and Warner Bros. Discovery is planning to make more movies based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s books.
