Drew Barrymore and Madison Beer on Attempting Suicide

Drew Barrymore, an actor and talk show host from Hollywood, recently talked about how she tried to kill herself when she was young. During an emotional talk with pop singer Madison Beer on her talk show, Barrymore talked about her problems with mental health and how she used drugs and alcohol to deal with them.

Beer also talked about the pressure she felt as a young woman in the public eye when she tried to kill herself. The moving conversation brought to light how important it is to get help and support when you are in a crisis and how there is still a stigma around mental health issues.

Drew Barrymore and Madison Beer recently shared their darkest moments. The 24-year-old singer discussed her suicidal thoughts and how she discovered hope on Wednesday’s The Drew Barrymore Show. Barrymore recounted her experience throughout the conversation.

“Everybody struggles, so I related on levels that are difficult to talk about and I want to thank you because you’re discussing stuff right now that I want to make you feel safe about because I’ve been there,” Barrymore said. “When you were struggling, did you try to escape life?”

Beer described her “unsuccessful” suicide attempt. “Things caught up with me that I had never acknowledged, I never wanted to face. “I feel like I was sort of putting on this façade and living this role I had been assigned for so long and it all caught up to me one day and then one day turned into weeks and months and, honestly, I feel like it was at least year that I was always in this sort of, like, suicidal ideation mindset,” Beer said.

It felt normal to think about that at the end of every day until I tried. “Thankfully, it failed,” she added. “I don’t know, it just became too much and that’s when I also decided, ‘OK, clearly there’s something more for me to live for.'” I want to use my failure. I want to say I chose life, but what now? That means what?”

“And did this happen twice?” Barrymore questioned. “Yeah, I don’t like to admit that it happened twice because the second time I sort of brushed it off, which should show how unimportant it was to me anymore.” “Sitting on a balcony and debating jumping off became normal,” Beer added. “And that’s why I’m like, ‘Was that really that big a deal?’ and now obviously with a lot of reflection and writing about it, obviously yes.”

Barrymore was put in a “full psychiatric ward” for a year and a half by her mother after a suicide attempt at 13. “My mom put me in a place that was, like, a full psychiatric ward,” Barrymore said to Howard Stern in 2021. I laughed about Malibu’s 30-day spas since my experience was the contrary.

Barrymore told Beer about attempting suicide. “Me twice. I wasn’t sure I wanted to die. I was desperate. “Right, you wanted like a way out, even if it was maybe temporary, but obviously it can’t be,” Beer said. It’s indescribable. I constantly told my best friend, “I just want a temporary death, like maybe it’s not forever but right now it’s too much and I want out currently.”

Barrymore, 48, asked Beer how she found her “way out.” I think my biggest thing was doing a lot of inner child work and mending the young girl in me. “I had to start at the beginning of where I feel like this pain is coming from,” Beer said.

The official account of E-News shared a post on Twitter: “Drew Barrymore and Madison Beer discuss struggles with mental health on”

I attended two mental health retreats. She added, “I had therapy daily.” I’m devoted to improving, whatever that entails. I started loving myself like I love others.” Barrymore and Beer had an emotional moment.

“I love you,” Barrymore said. “Everything you just said, what as an incredible roller coaster of real productiveness in seeking help, self-awareness, grace to others, realizing you’re not giving it to yourself…and I applaud that because you never have to be fake or anyone but you.”
