Nearly a year after declaring that Elon Musk is the “singular solution” he believes is best suited to lead Twitter, Jack Dorsey appears to have changed his mind. The former CEO of Twitter sharply criticized Elon Musk on Friday, saying that the internet mogul had failed to live up to expectations as the platform’s leader and should have walked away from the transaction.
In a series of reply posts on the social network Bluesky, a prospective Twitter rival that Mr. Dorsey helped establish, Mr. Musk was criticized by Mr. Dorsey. The Washington Post reports that he answered a user’s query on Bluesky asking if he thought Mr. Musk had been the “best possible steward.”
“No. He didn’t, in my opinion, act appropriately after recognizing his timing was poor. I also don’t believe the board ought to have compelled the transaction. Everything went wrong. However, it did happen, and all we can do right now is create something to stop it from happening again. I’m glad Jay and his team and the nostr developers are working on it, Mr. Dorsey said.

According to Fortune, Mr. Dorsey also said in a different article that Mr. Musk ought to have resigned and given the board a billion dollars in exchange. “If Elon or anyone else wanted to purchase the business, all they had to do was offer a price that the board determined to be higher than what the business could achieve on its own.
Every publicly traded corporation is subject to this. Was I overconfident? Yes. Did I have the last word? No. I believe he ought to have paid the $1 billion and walked away, the man said. Additionally, in response to a user’s comment that “It’s pretty sad how it all went down,” Mr. Dorsey simply typed “Yes.”
Notably, Mr. Dorsey recently declared that “Elon is the singular solution I trust” if Twitter had to become a corporation at all. I don’t think anyone should own or run Twitter, in theory. On a protocol level, it aims to be a public good, not a business. Elon is the only one I trust to address the issue of it being a company, though. I believe in his quest to spread consciousness, he tweeted in 2022 before Elon Musk had acquired Twitter.
