Parker Russell Schnabel entered the world in Haines, Alaska, on July 22, 1994. There are two more members of the Schnabel family: parents Roger and Nancy and sibling Payson. As early as the age of five, Parker Schnabel began working in the mining industry.
Parker spent his childhood at the Big Nugget mine, owned by his grandfather John Schnabel. His feet hadn’t yet reached the pedals when he started driving heavy machines. When Parker Schnabel became a famous varsity basketball player, he was still a high school senior.

In 2018, Schnabel and his crew were tracked through the air, on foot, and the water as they traveled through and attempted to mine at several locations in Guyana across a seven-part series. In 2019, Schnabel and his crew sailed, flew, hiked, and drove through Papua New Guinea in northern Oceania in an attempt to mine.
The journey was chronicled in a ten-part series. In 2020, Schnabel and his crew embarked on a 10-episode journey around Australia on March 13 to begin mining in Victoria, Queensland, and Western Australia.
Placer mining in the West Coast and Otago of New Zealand’s South Island, particularly the miner’s distinctive “Kiwi Wash Plants,” were the focus of Schnabel and his crew’s 10-part series that premiered on June 13, 2022.
Parker hired Canadian gold recovery expert and builder Jeff Turnell after seeing mine locations in New Zealand to construct his wash plant. Tyler Mahoney, a female Australian gold miner who starred on the show Aussie Gold Hunters before appearing on Gold Rush, joined Parker for the Australia and New Zealand seasons.
