At the age of 64, author and academic Gabrielle Carey p@ssed away. As a teenager, Carey co-wrote the landmark book Puberty Blues, which was released in 1979 and drew both praise and condemnation for its open discussion of adolescent s*xuality.
The novel was praised by young readers for being authentic despite adults’ mixed reactions to it, and it has now emerged as a key piece of Australian literature. In 1981, the book was turned into a movie. Kathy Lette, Carey’s writing partner, expressed her sorrow over the news and thought back on how the two of them had pushed limits and caused trouble with Puberty Blues.
After facing several health challenges, Gabrielle Carey p@ssed away at the age of 64 from natural causes. While many are interested in learning more about her cause of de@th, sympathies are being extended to her family.

Carey’s father, Alex Carey, had a profound impact on her upbringing in a humanist, atheist household. At the age of twelve, she and Lette grew close friends while in school. They then shared a home in Sydney where they co-wrote the book “Puberty Blues,” which was based on the experiences of young male surfers and their girlfriends.
