According To Michael J. Fox, The ‘Once Upon A Time In Hollywood’ Scene Where Leonardo DiCaprio’s Character Fumbled His Lines Motivated Him To Give Up On Acting

Michael J. Fox said that a scary scene in the movie “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” made him decide to stop playing.

Fox, who is 61 years old, talked about his life with Parkinson’s disease in a recent chat with Empire Magazine, which was picked up by Variety. Fox was told he had cancer in 1991 when he was 29 years old, but he didn’t tell his fans or the world for another seven years.

Fox told the outlet that he remembered having trouble remembering his lines while shooting “The Good Fight” on CBS. Fox’s problems made him think of a scene from “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” a 2019 movie by Quentin Tarantino, in which Leonardo DiCaprio plays an aged Western star in 1969.

A tweet related to this topic:

“I thought of the movie ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.’ In one scene, the character played by Leonardo DiCaprio can’t remember any more of his lines. He goes back to his changing room and yells at himself in the mirror. Just crazy,” Fox said to Empire Magazine. “I remember looking at myself in the mirror and thinking, ‘I can’t remember it anymore.'”

Fox said that realizing this didn’t shake him up. Instead, he kept his cool and told himself, “Well, I guess we should move on.” It was quiet.”

Fox’s words come as his new movie, “Still,” hits Apple TV+ for the first time on Friday. In the documentary, Fox’s life with Parkinson’s disease is looked at. According to the Parkinson’s Foundation, Parkinson’s is a neurodegenerative disorder that mostly affects the nerves in the brain that make dopamine.

In an April interview with “CBS Sunday Morning,” Fox said that life with Parkinson’s disease is “getting tougher.”
