Lockwood & Co. will no longer be available on Netflix. Variety says that Joe Cornish’s show, which was made by the same people who made Attack the Block, won’t be back for a second season. Based on Jonathan Stroud’s famous Young Adult books Ruby Stokes, Ali Hadji-Heshmati, and Cameron Chapman played three teenagers who investigate strange things.
The first episode of the show came out in January. In addition to getting good reviews, it seemed to be very popular. It was on Netflix’s World Top 10 list for almost a whole month, and 79.91 million hours were spent watching it. But according to the outlet, those numbers weren’t enough to get a second season, even though Netflix was said to be “very pleased” with how the show turned out.
Cornish, Edgar Wright, and Rachael Prior started the production business Complete Fiction. Cornish, Wright, and Prior put out a statement about the cancellation. “It was an honor and a privilege that the very talented Jonathan Stroud put his faith in me to adapt his excellent series of books,” the statement says.

He was joking when he said that the show’s performance was “not bad for a little start-up agency.” He was referring to the fact that it was on the streamer’s global Top 10 list. He ended his post by thanking the show’s viewers “so much for your love, generosity, and dedication.”
Cancellations of shows on Netflix are nothing new, and Lockwood & Co. is just the latest in a string of cancellations in the past few weeks. Shows like National Treasure: Edge of History, The Winchesters, and Fantasy Island have been taken off the air.
This could be because of the Writer’s Strike or because not enough people watched them. Some of these key creatives, like Jensen Ackles of The Winchesters, are working to move their show to another network, but others can’t and will have to move on once the choice is made.
