This shocking turn of events left many viewers wondering what would become of their favorite show. Powerpuff Girls Live Action Cancelled
TVLine has reported that The CW is no longer working on a live-action version of the Powerpuff Girls. The same goes for Justice U, a female-led Zorro series, Jake Chang (which was going to be based on a newish Archie Comics character), and any other potential shows left over from when Mark Pedowitz was president of The CW.
“We’ve already given those back to the studios,” The CW’s President of Entertainment, Brad Schwartz, told TVLine after the network’s Thursday morning Upfront address. “So they’re free to develop them and sell them anywhere.” Schwartz had just informed the press about the shows that Nexstar, which has owned The CW for the past seven months, was planning to make.

These shows include a Librarians sequel series, The Great American Makeover (in which Nancy Birtwhistle fixes up failing bakeries), Patti Stanger: Millionaire Matchmaker, and The Force, which is an unscripted procedural like COPS.
A Powerpuff pilot starring Chloe Bennet, Dove Cameron, Yana Perrault, Donald Faison, and others was shot in early 2021, but the show wasn’t picked up for an entire season.
David Ramsey would have played Arrow’s John Diggle again in Justice U. After years of fighting alongside other masked heroes, Diggle “begins a new mission to recruit five young metahumans to live undercover as freshmen at a prestigious university.” Ramsey told TVLine in October, “We’re on the second draft of a script, and we just signed a deal with a writer.

It’s still being made, and we’re moving forward.” The female-led Zorro series, from director Robert Rodriguez (Sin City, Spy Kids) and writer-director Rebecca Rodriguez (Snowpiercer, Doom Patrol), had been looked into/dropped by NBC.
It was put into development at The CW in February 2022, at the same time as Gotham Knights, Walker Independence, and The Winchesters, all of which got the green lights. Last but not least, Jake Chang was put into development last June.
It was described as an Asian-American mystery that follows a 16-year-old private detective as he navigates the many different worlds of his home, Chinatown, which is becoming increasingly affluent.
