Andy Rourke, the bassist for The Smiths, has di*d at the age of 59, one of his former bandmates said. In a post on social media on Friday (19 May), Johnny Marr said that the artists had di*d. He said Rourke’s de@th was the result of a “lengthy illness”
Andy Rourke has known Marr since they were kids, and he joined The Smiths after their first show. He played bass on all four of the band’s studio records. After the group broke up, he also played on a few of Morrissey’s early solo singles.
Rourke worked with artists like Sinead O’Connor after The Smiths broke up. He played bass on three tracks from her 1990 record I Do Not Want What I Haven’t Got. He was also on the 1994 record by The Pretenders called “Last of the Independents,” and he worked with Ian Brown, who used to be the lead singer of the Stone Roses, on his 2007 album “The World Is Yours.” Here is all the information you need.
