Farewell to a Legend: Jim Brown’s Cause of Death Revealed

Jim Brown, a storied running back with the Cleveland Browns, died at 87. According to accounts, Brown passed away naturally. The former running back for the Cleveland Browns died when his wife and they were at their Los Angeles home.

The running back led the Browns to an NFL title in 1964 before retiring at the pinnacle of his career after the 1965 campaign and starting a new career as an actor.

Brown promoted social concerns using his platform. He organized a protest in Cleveland in 1967 to support boxer Muhammad Ali’s opposition to the Vietnam War, including some of the country’s best Black sportsmen, Bill Russell and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Later, he focused on reducing gang-related violence in Los Angeles.

Brown’s wife, Monique Brown, posted after her husband’s demise. She posted the following on her Instagram page:

It is with profound sadness that I announce the passing of my husband, Jim Brown. He passed peacefully last night at our LA home. To the world he was an activist, actor, and football star. To our family, he was a loving and wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. Our hearts are broken…

Monique Brown shared a post on Instagram:-

For the anniversaries of the NFL and College Football in 2020, Brown was chosen for both teams’ 100 all-time teams and was recognized as the best player in college football history on the 150-player list. In 2002, the Sporting News ranked him the best football player ever.

Brown also pushed for increased Black community involvement among contemporary athletes. Roger Goodell, the commissioner of the National Football League, referred to Brown as a “gifted athlete” who “became a forerunner and role model for athletes being involved in social initiatives outside their sports.”

The Browns released a statement stating, “It’s impossible to describe the profound love and gratitude we feel for having the opportunity to be a small piece of Jim’s incredible life and legacy. We mourn his passing but celebrate the indelible light he brought to the world.”
