Tina Turner, the queen of rock ‘n’ roll, passed away at 83 following a protracted illness, according to a statement from her representative to NBC News. She passed away after battling numerous diseases in recent years.
The statement read, “With her, the world loses a music legend and a role model.” In Nutbush, Tennessee, the United States, on November 26, 1939, Anna Mae Bullock became Tina Turner.
She rose to fame in the late 1960s as the lead vocalist of the Ike & Tina Turner Revue group but subsequently found success as a solo artist. Tina Turner delighted millions of admirers with her music and boundless energy and inspired countless musicians in later generations.
Her extraordinary history includes global classics like “What’s Love Got to Do With It,” “Private Dancer,” and “The Best,” with sales of over 180 million records, 12 Grammy Awards, and more than three decades of sold-out stadium tours all over the globe.
Long Illness
Turner’s cause of deαth was not stated in the statement from her publicist, although it did mention that she passed away after a “long illness.”

In recent years, Turner has had several health problems, including a stroke, intestinal cαncer, high blood pressure, renal failure, and post-traumatic stress disorder related to her relationship with the Ike Turner public.
Her memoir “My Love Story,” published in 2018, said, “I’ve been on such a wild roller-coaster in the four years since my wedding that even I have difficulty keeping my medical catastrophes straight.”

Stroke
Turner wrote in her book that she had a stroke in October 2013, three months after her second marriage to Erwin Bach.
“I woke up suddenly and in a panic,” the iconic singer wrote. “A lightning bolt struck my head and my right leg — at least that’s how it felt — and I had a funny sensation in my mouth that made it difficult for me to call out to Erwin for help. I suspected it wasn’t good, but it was worse than I ever imagined. I was having a stroke.”
Bach and her doctor took her to the hospital, where she found out she couldn’t stand alone. She had to drag herself to a couch and pull herself up. She spent 10 days in the hospital. Turner was able to walk again, but “nothing about the rehabilitation process was easy,” she wrote.
