Sister Patricia Terry Holland, the wife of Elder Jeffrey R. Holland of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, passed away on Thursday, July 20, at the age of 81, after living a faith-filled life marked by devotion, service, and testimony.
Sister Holland, a former general officer in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and mother of three, grandmother of thirteen, and great-grandmother of five, will be remembered for her unwavering support of her husband and their endeavors to spread love and light worldwide.
Sister Holland, born on February 16, 1942, in Enterprise, Utah, to Maeser W. and Marilla Terry, embraced the values and traditions of her pioneer ancestors. Her faith saw her through illness in recent years, demonstrating her grit and character. It also saw her through marriage and motherhood, general Church leadership, and the visibility of her husband’s callings.

Patricia Holland was diagnosed with a severe form of pneumonia during her illness, which shocked her and her family. Doctors recommended her husband, Elder Jeffrey R. Holland, gather their family as she fought for her life, marking a watershed point in their family history.
Her status remained unknown for the following 30 days, and despite numerous blessings, she showed little progress, causing considerable concern among her loved ones.
Mary Alice Holland McCann, her daughter, remembered the event as terrible, with moments when they worried they would lose her. On the other hand, Patricia demonstrated amazing courage and perseverance in holding on and fighting through difficult circumstances.
As the family came together to support and care for Patricia during her difficult illness, it became a time of meaningful family contemplation. Elder Jeffrey R. Holland, who had always been energetic and busy, was compelled to slow down and engage in moments of peaceful reflection due to the situation.
