On July 15, former University of Iowa offensive lineman Cody Ince, age 23, was discovered dead at his house in Wisconsin. Ince had recently retired from football and was planning to get married when his playing career ended. The obituary for Ince stated that he passed away “unexpectedly” at his house in Grantsburg, but did not specify the reason for his passing away.

On Saturday, July 15, 2023, Cody John Ince, 23, went away unexpectedly at his house close to Grantsburg, Wisconsin. Tammy and Marty Ince welcomed Cody into the world on December 18, 1999, in St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin.
Cody leaves behind his fiancée Olivia Tucker and hunting dog Hawk in Grantsburg, WI, as well as his parents Tammy and Marty Ince in Luck, WI, his sister Carly Ince and her fiancé Drew Alderman in Frederic, WI, his paternal grandmother Betty Ince in Luck, WI, his maternal grandmother Lola Royer in Inver Grove Heights, MN, and numerous loving relatives, friends, and relatives to honor his memory.
His grandfathers Eugene Ince, Les Royer, Gary Vandelinde, and cousin Adam Peterson died before him. A Celebration of Life will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, July 22, 2023, officiated by Rev.

Angie Kutney, after which a celebration will continue at the BrowTine Event Center, 1361 100th Street, Amery, Wisconsin. Cody’s family will welcome guests on that day from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Unity High School Gym, 1908 150th Street, Balsam Lake, Wisconsin 54810.
Hunter Pederson, Landan Paulsen, Levi Paulsen, Jack Heflin, Corey Sandberg, and Drew Alderman will serve as honorary pallbearers and groomsmen.
