In Episode 7 of The Witcher, titled “Out of the Fire, Into the Frying Pan,” Ciri finds herself in the desert, experiencing visions. Among the visions, she sees her late mother, Pavetta, who died in a shipwreck when Ciri was young, and her grandmother, Queen Calanthe, who was killed during a previous invasion.

However, there’s someone new in the vision – a mysterious hooded figure. As the vision unfolds, Ciri realizes that this person is Falka, a significant character in The Witcher lore. In the Netflix series, Falka is portrayed by Hiftu Quasem.

Falka was the first-born daughter of King Vridank of Redania and Beatrix of Kovir. She was meant to inherit the Redanian throne, but King Vridank divorced Beatrix and sent her and baby Falka away in shame.

Twenty-five years later, Falka led a violent rebellion to reclaim the Redanian throne, which she believed was rightfully hers. During the rebellion, she killed King Vridank, her half-brothers, and Queen Cerro. Falka’s brutal actions earned her the fierce reputation and the nickname “Bloody Falka.”

It’s important to note that Falka, like Calanthe and Pavetta, is long deceased by the time Ciri encounters her in the desert vision.

What Happened to Falka in the End?

What Happened to Falka in the End?

After Falka’s rebellion grew larger, it turned into a bigger conflict. In the book “Baptism of Fire,” mobs who followed Falka used the rebellion to express their anger towards kings, priests, nobles, and even sorcerers.

In the TV series, we learned about Falka from the sorcerer Stregobor, who was alive during her rebellion and mentioned her in seasons 1 and 2.

Unfortunately, the rebellion didn’t end well. After successfully conquering Redania, Falka and her rebels targeted the neighboring country of Temeria.

However, this proved to be a bad decision. Temeria’s armies fought back, and Vridank’s uncle, King Vizimir I, claimed the Redanian throne for himself. As a result, Falka’s forces were defeated, and she was captured and burned at the stake.

Surprisingly, Falka embraced her fate and faced the burning. In her final moments, she cursed her enemies, vowing that they and their descendants would suffer at the hands of someone who shared her blood.

Who is Lara Dorren, and Why is she important for Ciri’s bloodline?

Who is Lara Dorren, and Why is she important for Ciri’s bloodline?

The answer to this question is quite complicated. Like Ciri, Falka is part elf. In the TV show, she even carved her ears to appear more elven, to honor her heritage and create a more unsettling appearance.

During Falka’s rebellion, the rebels accidentally captured a woman named Riannon. She was not only the wife of Temerian King Goidemar but also the daughter of Lara Dorren, a famous elven mage who fell in love with the human Cregannon of Lod.

Lara Dorren is considered to be the starting point of Ciri’s bloodline. While imprisoned, Riannon gave birth to twins, and Falka also gave birth to a daughter, whom she gave to Riannon to raise in the prison cell. The situation became complex when Riannon started losing her sanity while raising all three babies together.

She couldn’t tell which children were hers and which one was Falka’s. Because of this confusion, it’s still not entirely clear whether Ciri is directly descended from one of Riannon’s children or Falka’s. This has led to theories in the world of The Witcher that Falka’s bloodline may also include the Elder Blood.

In the Netflix series, it seems that Ciri is connected to both Lara Dorren and Falka’s bloodlines. However, due to the mysterious nature of Falka’s Rebellion, some details about their genealogy remain unknown. Nonetheless, Falka holds great importance in The Witcher’s world.
