Laura Jarrett was born in 1983 in Chicago, Illinois, and she is the only child of her parents. Her parents valued education and encouraged her to pursue her academic goals. She attended a high school in Chicago, where she excelled academically before moving on to university.
After completing her university education, Laura successfully passed the Law School Admission Test (LSAT) and gained admission to the prestigious Harvard Law School. During her time at Harvard, she actively participated in the Harvard Journal of Law and Gender, where she authored articles on the intersection of gender, violence, and law.
After graduating from Harvard Law School, Laura became a licensed attorney, allowing her to practice law in both state and federal courts in Illinois.
Before entering the legal profession, she served as a law clerk for Rebecca Pallmeyer in the Northern District of Illinois. Later, she continued her clerkship at the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals under the guidance of Ann C. Williams.
