During his tenure on the show, which lasted over 200 episodes, Hardwick also worked as a writer and a story editor. As a producer of “King of the Hill,” Hardwick received an Emmy Award for outstanding animated program in 1999. He was also nominated for two more awards in the category.

Dale Gribble was a significant supporting character on Mike Judge and Greg Daniels’ “King of the Hill,” which aired for 13 seasons and 259 episodes between 1997 and 2010. Dale was one of Hank Hill’s closest pals, and he was well-known for his continual paranoia caused by conspiracy beliefs. Hardwick played Dale for the entire 13-season duration of the show, appearing in 257 of the 258 episodes.

Hardwick was born in Austin, Texas, and began his career as a local stand-up comedian before landing a spot on “The Jon Stewart Show.” A routine at Los Angeles’ Laugh Factory comedy club caught the attention of Daniels and Judge, the latter of whom had television success as the creator of MTV’s “Beavis and Butt-Head.” The team was working on “King of the Hill” and invited Hardwick to join them.

Aside from “King of the Hill,” Hardwick has participated in reality shows like “Ace of Cakes” (2009) and “Boomer vs Zoomer” (2019). Through old recordings, he continued to voice Dale in other mediums, such as the video game “King of the Hill” and the 2022 racing game “Warped Kart Racers.”
