Instead, it will be turned into a three-movie film series. Fans of the series are in for an exciting ride as the story that captured people’s hearts is retold for the big screen.
This brave decision to move from TV to movies shows how popular the series is and promises to bring the same heart-pounding action and gripping stories on a bigger scale. Fans of the “Warrior Nun” movie series are getting increasingly excited for the trilogy’s next film.
Warrior Nun’s Return as Film Trilogy
A new life is being given to Warrior Nun. According to executive producer Dean English, the fantasy drama series that Netflix cancelled after two seasons will return as a trilogy of feature films.
Warrior Nun will return, and it will be more epic than you can imagine, the show’s creator Simon Barry announced late last month. “Today I’m happy to officially report that because of your combined voices, passion and amazing efforts — Warrior Nun will return and will be more EPIC than you could imagine,” Barry tweeted on June 28. “More details to come! SOON! Thank you!!”
Simon Barry shared a post on Twitter:

However, it took some time for the “more details” section to come together. Shortly after Barry’s post, sources told The Hollywood Reporter that Warrior Nun wouldn’t return to its original home on Netflix.
When Barry posted the news on social media, discussions continued with the show’s rights holders, English’s Perfect Circle Productions and Productivity Media.
Some information was made public on Tuesday when English confirmed the feature picture proposal in a YouTube video and an online statement on a website created to save Warrior Nun.

“I need to thank all of you devoted followers first. We continue to work hard to create great stories because of you and your incredible spirit. You people make everything worthwhile, for sure. So I just wanted to thank you so much for your support,” English stated at the beginning of the video.
“I am thrilled to announce that Warrior Nun is returning as a trilogy of motion pictures. Once again, a trilogy of feature films Three,” he added.
English gave few other specifics, noting that he couldn’t reveal any information on the creative talent associated with the film trilogy due to the ongoing Hollywood strikes.
One topic that needs to be brought up is the Hollywood writers’ and actors’ strike. We are unable to make any announcements on that front today. As a result, he stated in the video.
The story centres on Ava (Alba Baptista), a young woman brought back to life by a divine artefact placed on her back. It is based on Ben Dunn’s comic book Warrior Nun Areala. She discovers she is a member of the Order of the Cruciform Sword, a venerable group whose mission is to combat demons on Earth.
Following a reasonably positive premiere in July 2020, it received a second-season renewal roughly six weeks later. After its November 2022 debut, Season 2 spent two weeks at the top of Nielsen’s U.S. streaming charts and three weeks in the top 10 English-language TV shows on Netflix’s global list.
It peaked at No. 5 in its second week. Netflix discontinued the show in December. Warrior Nun fans deliberately attempted to return to the program once it was cancelled, using social media, billboard ads, and other methods.
In his tweet announcing the resurrection, Barry gave appreciation to those fans. Warrior Nun also stars William Miller, Lorena Andrea, Kristina Tonteri-Young, Tristán Ulloa, Olivia Declán, Thekla Reuten, and Baptista. Season two was executive produced by Barry, Stephen Hegyes, and David Hayter.
