Did you catch the epic finale of ‘Alone’ Season 10? It wrapped up the season with a thrilling showdown as contestants battled the elements and their own limits in pursuit of a $500,000 prize.
The last episode titled ‘By Any Means’ followed the final three participants: Wyatt, Alan, and Mikey. They faced challenges like finding food, enduring harsh winter conditions, and staying warm in freezing temperatures near Reindeer Lake, Saskatchewan.
Third Place (Mikey Helton)
The first person to leave was Mikey Helton, a 32-year-old carpenter from Rome, Georgia. He left on day 55. While waiting for a checkup, he thought about living in the wild place with his family and wished the other contestants would give up so he could win.
But eventually, Mikey felt his body couldn’t take it anymore. He told the doctor he was always cold and hurting a lot. He said, “I’m officially tapping out,” and cried, explaining that he didn’t want to risk getting hurt.
“This is a hard decision to make. In my head, I could keep going, but I know if I push too much farther then I’d be really hurting myself,” he said. “And I don’t want to go back to my son broken.” But he ended on a positive note, calling himself a “different person.”
“After everything you have has been stripped off of you, your mind and your body have been broken down, you start seeing things a little differently,” he said. “I’ve learned there’s no point in holding back the emotions and things that you want to say. It’s actually caused more problems.”

Second Place (Wyatt Black)
A man named Wyatt Black, who loves being outdoors and is from Ontario, lasted a pretty long time in the competition, staying for 66 days. During the rest of his time, he tried to find a good spot for ice fishing and had a really scary moment.
In a short period, he lost a toenail, heard the ice around him make cracking sounds, and saw his shelter’s wall catch fire from the inside. He quickly splashed water on the flames and put them out. After that, he said, ‘That was close. I didn’t like that. I’m glad I was awake for it.’ He also mentioned that it was too cold to not have a fire.
On his last day, Black felt peaceful. He watched the sunrise and talked about finishing everything he wanted to do, including overcoming his struggles with alcoholism.
“Everything about my mind and body are done. I’m leaving here a different person. No question about it,” he said. “And I’m good about it. I’m really good about it.”
Wyatt has been my favourite contestant in the 10 seasons of this show. If he ever gets an opportunity to come back, I truly hope he considers it. #Alone #AloneShow #AloneOnHistory #historychannel pic.twitter.com/pHnPqJkml7

Winner (Alan Trenta)
Alan Trenta, a 52-year-old teacher from British Columbia, stayed longer than Black. But even he thought about leaving earlier because his body was getting weak.
He talked about his urine being orange, which showed he was very thirsty. On his last day, he showed his thin waist to the camera and wondered if the medic might ask him to leave because he looked weak and his heart was beating slowly.
“Physically, I’m almost at the end of my rope,” he told the doctor. He then started talking about his “food fantasies,” but he had no idea that he was the final contestant in the competition.
In the last scene, he is sitting in his moss-covered shelter with his wife, who has shocked him. She asks him what the best parts of his adventure were. He talked about a “really neat experience with an owl. It’ll really blow your mind. It’ll blow your mind.”
“It was dusk and an owl — it was like he was my pet. it was the weirdest thing, especially since my dad passed. It wouldn’t leave 10 minutes. It like landed right beside me.”
Trenta said that he joined the challenge to inspire his students, but he dedicated his performance to his dad.
“Winning this challenge is a lot owed to my dad,” he said, adding that his dad was the one who got him interested in the outdoors.
“I’ll never get over the loss of him,” Trenta said. “Perhaps that experience with the owl was his way of saying, ‘Hey man, I am here with you.’”
Congratulations to my brother-in-law Alan on winning season 10 of alone.
