Suzanne Cecelia Crumpler, a dancer born to perform, changed her name to Suzanne Rogers for professional purposes. The late Ginger Rogers served as her inspiration.
The native of Colonial Heights, Virginia first demonstrated an interest in dance as a young kid, and at age two, she started taking lessons. She moved to New York when she was 17, where she worked as a Rockette at Radio City Music Hall.
Additionally, Rogers began to appear in the Broadway productions of Coco, Hallelujah Boy, and Follies. Rogers moved to California in 1973 to enrol in the Stella Adler Studio of Acting classes.
A few months later, when then-executive producer Betty Corday thought she was ideal for the part of Maggie on Days of our Lives, she went in for an audition and was given the position. The actress later won a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in 1979.
After receiving a diagnosis of myasthenia gravis in 1984, the actress was temporarily forced to leave the serial opera. When she returned a year later, Rogers offered a plot twist in which her character received the same medical diagnosis.
