David Copperfield met German supermodel Claudia Schiffer in 1993 at a Berlin celebrity banquet when he invited her on stage to engage in a mind-reading performance and his flying illusion. They married in January 1994.
Throughout their tenure, Schiffer appeared on stage as a special guest helper to Copperfield, performing illusions such as being sawn in half. They later featured together in the documentary “David Copperfield: 15 Years of Magic” (1994), when Schiffer played a reporter interviewing Copperfield and they reproduced their “Flying” illusion act.

His impressive list of accomplishments includes extraordinary feats like making a Learjet disappear (1981), the Statue of Liberty vanish and reappear (1983), hovering over the Grand Canyon (1984), traversing the Great Wall of China (1986), eluding capture at Alcatraz prison (1987), making an Orient Express dining car vanish (1991), and even flying on stage for several minutes (1992).

Melk had agreed to sell the land to Copperfield’s Imagine Nation Company, according to his argument, and Copperfield employed a third party to conduct the discussions out of fear that Melk was abusing his famous status. The matter was resolved in 2006, but the settlement terms are still secret.
On November 6, 2007, Copperfield was sued for roughly $2.2 million by Viva Art International Ltd and Maz Concerts Inc. Copperfield was the target of charges of s*xual assault from Lacey L. Carroll in 2007. But in January 2010, a federal grand jury in Seattle wrapped up its inquiry without filing any charges.
