BLACKPINK has finally released its new single “The Girls” as well as a music video, which is currently accessible for viewing through the girl band’s mobile app, “The Game.”
Originally teased in May, the Aug. 23 video for “The Girls” features animated avatars of Rosé, Jisoo, Lisa, and Jennie repeating the slogan, “Don’t mess with the girls,” while performing cartoon-ified versions of BLACKPINK’s real-life distinctive group choreography.
For the time being, the visual and song are only available in “The Game,” but a banner published by BLACKPINK’s official Twitter suggests that the digital single will be available Friday (Aug. 25).

The four comrades celebrated the long-awaited release of “The Girls” with a YouTube viewing party. They watched their new music video together for the first time before playing many games as a group and marveled at how adorable their cartoon counterparts are.
According to YouTube’s Korean-to-English translation, “the choreo is super cute,” Lisa commented on BLACKPINK’s animated dance performance.

“The Game” was released in May, and “The Girls” was supposed to follow soon after. The app’s team, on the other hand, revealed in July that development on the animation graphic was still ongoing, apologizing to followers on Twitter for the “endless and frustrating” wait.
“Our deep desire to present the highest quality of content flawlessly took longer than expected, and therefore our initial plan to release the M/V simultaneously with the game release was delayed significantly,” the company said in a statement.
To all Producers around the world who are eagerly waiting for the release of BLACKPINK THE GAME's OST, <THE GIRLS>.
We understand that the wait must feel endless and frustrating.
First and foremost, we would like to sincerely apologize for the continued delay. Our deep desire… pic.twitter.com/MqpID8LnsF
