Enrique Tarrio’s Covert Role as an Informant
Enrique Tarrio was raised a Catholic inside the borders of Little Havana, a Miami, Florida neighbourhood, where he was thought to have been born in or around 1984 or 1985. Tarrio, then 20 years old, was found guilty of larceny in 2004 and given a three-year probationary period, as well as community work and reparations.
After 2004, Tarrio moved to a small community in North Florida to manage a poultry farm before eventually moving back to Miami. He started his own business, installing security systems and starting another that offered GPS tracking services. He was accused of selling and repackaging stolen diabetic test strips in 2012.
After being charged, Tarrio worked with the authorities and actively assisted in the prosecution of more than a dozen additional people. Despite his initial denials, Tarrio’s claims that he didn’t work undercover or aid in investigations were refuted by court transcripts and the former federal prosecutor who was involved in his case.
When Reuters obtained pertinent court records and spoke with the investigators and attorneys working on the case, they were able to reveal Tarrio’s status as an informant in January 2021.

Enrique Tarrio Career
Throughout his career, Enrique Tarrio has engaged in a wide variety of endeavours. He began his career raising chickens in a small village in North Florida before moving back to Miami and starting his own business.
Tarrio developed enterprises that provide GPS tracking services for businesses and the installation of security systems. Additionally, he runs a website called 1776 Merchandise where he sells controversial right-wing goods.
He also supported the political objectives of the late president by serving as the Latinos for Trump state director for Florida. When Tarrio assumed leadership of the far-right group Proud Boys, his career took a contentious turn.
Under his direction, the Proud Boys took part in demonstrations, protests, and altercations with left-wing organizations around the country. Due to Tarrio’s participation in these actions, there were numerous arrests and legal troubles.
In addition, he came under fire for working as an FBI informant, which ultimately caused him to step down as the Proud Boys’ leader in August 2021.
