Johnny Mac Brown, 69, of Chuckey, passed away at his home in the South Central Community on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, to be with his Lord and Savior. The late Guy and Stella (Painter) Brown welcomed him into the world on May 24, 1954. Ruth Brown, his sister, and Mary Franklin, his mother-in-law, both predeceased him.
Johnny was a deacon and former Sunday School teacher at Liberty Free Will Baptist Church. He was a devoted churchgoer. After 43 years of service as a tool and die maker at Superior Metal Products, he retired.
He cherished farming, gardening, hunting, fishing, and going to see his grandchildren play sports. Johnny was a devoted brother, friend, parent, husband, and grandfather. He was adored and respected by everyone he knew, and he loved the Lord.
His wife Donna Brown, his daughter Jennifer Douglas and her husband Todd, his son Nathan Brown and his wife Rebecca, his grandchildren Bryson Foulks, Kaitlyn Foulks, Brady Ramsey, and Makenna Brown, his sister Joynel Moses (Kernie), his brothers Billy, Henry, Tommy, and Guy Lee Brown, his father-in-law Fred Franklin, his brother-in-law Tony Franklin, his sister Shelby Childers, and a special uncle and aunt named Clay and Susie Brown Johnny was a devoted family man who was regarded by many as a second father and grandpa.

He adored all of his nieces and nephews. We especially want to thank the 2200 and 6400 staff members at Johnson City Medical Center, as well as Drs. Devapiran Jaishankar, Tyler Bailey, Lincoln Olsen, and Ahmed Khan.
On Saturday, September 9th, the family will host visitors at Liberty Free Will Baptist Church from 2 to 4 and 5 to 7 p.m., with the funeral starting at 7 p.m. Officiating will be done by Bryson Foulks, Rev. John Buchanan, and Rev. Brian Brown.
The Rev. Ralph Dingus and the Rev. Brandon Broyles will preside over the graveside service on Sunday, September 10th at 2 o’clock in Liberty Cemetery. For the service, friends are asked to gather at the cemetery.
Ryan Adams, James Buchanan, Jeff Brobeck, Logan Clark, Tony Greer, and Steve Painter will serve as active pallbearers. The Deacon Board of Liberty Free Will Baptist Church, Tony Barber, Jeff Bowman, Darian Collins, Danny Mathes, Scott Maxwell, Wally Melton, and staff from Superior Metal Products will serve as honorary pallbearers. The arrangements are under the control of Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home.
