Irish Grinstead’s Twin Sister Orish: What Happened to Her?

Lemisha Grinstead, Irish Grinstead’s sister, said that she died on September 16 at the age of 43. She was a part of the female group 702, which had hits like “Where My Girls At.”

Another member of 702, Lemisha, posted the news on her Instagram with the caption:

“It is with great sadness that I have to let you know that my beautiful sister and friend passed away this evening. She has had a long battle and she is finally at peace. That girl was as bright as the stars! She was not only beautiful on the outside, but also within. Sharing the stage with her was a joy I will cherish for the rest of my life! We, the family, ask for prayers and respect for our privacy as we grieve an outstanding loss to our family”.

Hollywood Reporter says that Irish’s cause of death was not given, but the band did say in December 2023 that Irish was taking a “medical leave of absence due to serious medical issues.”

Unfortunate bad things have happened to the Grinstead family before, too. Orish Grinstead, Irish’s twin sister, died of kidney failure on April 20, 2008, at the age of 27.

BET said that Grinstead also had cancer and other illnesses that they did not name, and it was thought that she would not get better.

Who is Irish Grinstead Twin Sister?

Irish Grinstead had a twin sister named Orish. They were born on June 2, 1980, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Orish was a singer and was in the original group called 702, along with her sisters Irish and Lemisha Grinstead, and Amelia Childs.

Even though Orish left the group before they officially started, she helped with their first album. Sometimes, when the other members couldn’t perform, she would step in.

For example, when Lemisha was pregnant, Orish would sing in her place. Besides her work with 702, Orish also tried to make music on her own.

Orish died in April 2008 from kidney failure. At the time, there were claims that she also had a number of other illnesses, including cancer that was not treated.

Sources close to the late singer said that she had been sick for a long time before she died and that no one thought she would get better.

Irish and Lemisha talked to ABC in 2021 about what it was like to lose Orish. They said that her death changed the “dynamic” of their family because the three of them were “literally like triplets.”

“It was hard for me to keep that inside for so long, and it felt good to finally talk about it and let it out of my heart,” Irish said.

Lemisha said, “I struggled with it just as equally, probably not as rough as Irish did, but it was just as bad for me losing Orish,”

“It was hard for me to hold that in for so long, and it was kind of relieving to be able to speak about it and to finally let it out my heart,” Irish said.
