Even though Shanquella Robinson violently passed away just 24 hours into a group trip to Cabo, Mexico in 2022, it appears that the writers and producers of the Tubi crime drama Street Legal decided it was okay to incorporate Robinson’s tragic real-life story into the show’s fictional plot without the family’s consent.
According to a cease and desist letter, Shanquella’s “covertly exploited” portrayal violates her family’s and her estate’s legal rights to publicity.
It continues,
“This unauthorized use has caused significant emotional distress and harm to the Robinson family, as it has dredged up painful memories and portrayed our loved one in a manner that is inaccurate, disrespectful, and damaging to her reputation.”
Besides the removal of the show from Tubi and any other platform it might air on, the family is demanding that any distribution of materials referencing Robinson be put to an end, a public apology, and monetary compensation for the defamation of Robinson and the emotional pain caused to her family.

Robinson had a substantial alcohol intake, a family member of the patient informed the doctor after an assessment. Robinson ultimately obtained medical care at her lodging, despite the doctor’s recommendation that she be admitted.
The doctor sought to give the patient an intravenous drip while they were receiving treatment. But at 4:13 pm, almost an hour after the doctor arrived, Robinson had a tonic-clonic seizure marked by the rigidity of the body, limb spasms, and relaxation of the sphincter, which led to spontaneous defecation. This made Robinson’s situation even worse.
At 4:20 p.m., an ambulance was promptly called after Robinson started having breathing problems and her heart rate started to fall. Tragically, Robinson then suffered a heart attack and passed away.
Mobile paramedics arrived at the location around 4:49 p.m. In an effort to revive her, they diligently started CPR. This included applying intrathoracic pressure to her chest over the course of 14 cycles and doing cardiac-vascular compressions.
They also carried out six electrical shocks from a defibrillator and five doses of adrenaline. They made valiant attempts to resuscitate vital signs including the heart rate, pulse, pupillary reflexes, and other important life indicators, but they were unsuccessful.
