What Happened to Stray Kids? Just before Stray Kids performance at the Global Citizen Festival in New York City, the Stray Kids had a car accident.
The Global Citizen Festival is held every year in September, usually around the time of the United Nations General Assembly, at Central Park’s Great Lawn in New York City.
Global Citizen is a big organization working to end extreme poverty. This year’s festival includes famous artists like Anitta, Jung Kook, Ms. Lauryn Hill, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Conan Gray, Stray Kids, D-Nice, and Sofia Carson. Megan Thee Stallion was supposed to perform but had to cancel due to scheduling conflicts.
Now, let’s find out what happened to Stray Kids and if they can still perform at the Global Citizen Festival.
What Happened to Stray Kids?
On September 20, 2023, Stray Kids’ company, JYP Entertainment, told everyone that a few members of the group had a small car accident.
“While returning to their dorms after a schedule on September 20th (Wednesday), the vehicle carrying Stray Kids members Lee Know, Hyunjin, and Seungmin was involved in a minor collision,” the agency explained in a statement.

Stray Kids’ Health Update: Injuries and Recovery
After the car crash, Lee Know, Hyunjin, and Seungmin went to the hospital right away. The good news is nobody got seriously hurt, but they did have some muscle pain and bruises. The doctors said they should get some rest and treatment for a bit.
“We apologize for causing fans to worry with such sudden news,” the statement concludes. “JYPE will place the artists’ health as the highest priority and will provide everything we can to support their recovery. Thank you.”
The statement also talked about changes to the group’s plans. The sub-unit called 3Racha, which includes Bang Chan, Changbin, and HAN, will still perform at the Global Citizen Festival. However, Hyunjin won’t be going to Milan Fashion Week, and there won’t be a birthday YouTube Live for Seungmin.
The Global Citizen Festival is supporting Stray Kids. They said:
“Our support goes out to the members of Stray Kids and our hearts are with Stays everywhere,” the festival posted on X. “We’ll be joined on the Global Citizen Festival stage by Bang Chan, Changbin, and HAN, performing as 3RACHA.”
Just a week ago, Stray Kids was at the 2023 VMAs in New Jersey. They won an award for Best K-Pop Group and performed their popular song “S-Class.”
