In the world of Hollywood power couples, the Smiths are no strangers to the spotlight. Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith have been a dynamic duo for years, and now, Jada is opening up in a “no holds barred” book, “Worthy,” about her unconventional journey from Baltimore to falling in love with the Fresh Prince himself.
In a recent interview with InStyle, Jada Pinkett Smith shared her thoughtful approach to releasing her tell-all memoir and how it’s been received by her closest family members, including their two children, Willow and Jaden Smith.
She said –
“What I did was tell them what’s in the book, what stories I was going to tell about them specifically, and [ask] if they were okay with that.”
While the Smiths share a unique family dynamic, it’s heartening to see that open communication remains a crucial element of their relationships. Jada and Will have two children together, Willow, 22, and Jaden, 25, and Will also has a son, Trey Smith, 30, from his previous marriage to Sheree Zampino.
What caught our attention was how Willow, the talented young artist and the Smiths’ daughter, reacted to her mother’s memoir. According to Jada, Willow is an avid reader and was quick to dive into “Worthy.” In fact, Jada teased that Willow is working on a fictional book of her own, set to hit the shelves in May 2024.

“She loved the memoir even before it was edited,” Jada shared with a proud smile. “She couldn’t wait, she’s like, ‘Mom, I’m taking this copy. I got to finish my read.’ She was super excited about it. But the boys [Jaden and Trey], I just told them what was in it. They’ll read it eventually.”
Jada Pinkett Smith’s memoir, “Worthy,” is making headlines for the candid revelations it contains, including the surprising fact that she and Will have been separated since 2016. During the promotional tour for the book, Jada opened up on the Today show about why she and Will chose to share this news now.
“I think just not being ready yet, still trying to figure out between the two of us how to be in a partnership and in regards to how do we present that to people. And we hadn’t figure that out,” she admitted.
It’s not just Willow who’s engrossed in the pages of “Worthy.” Will Smith himself couldn’t contain his emotions after reading his wife’s innermost thoughts about their life and family dynamic. On Jay Shetty’s On Purpose podcast, Will shared a heartfelt letter he wrote to Jada.

“I just turned the final page of ‘Worthy,'” he wrote. “It is amazing to realize that despite having lived most of my life by your side, I still found myself shocked and stunned and caught off guard, laughing, then inspired, then heartbroken. I was all over the place.”
Their love story, which began in 1997, is indeed one for the ages. “It’s one thing to hear anecdotes at a family barbecue, but it was truly overwhelming to take in your story, potently condensed in this way,” he continued.
Will Smith’s words reflect the deep appreciation he holds for his wife. “one of one, a rare blend of power and delicate sensitivity,” he said. “If I had read this book 30 years ago, I definitely would have hugged you more. I’ll start now.”
In a recent conversation, Jada Pinkett Smith summed up their relationship beautifully. “We’re still figuring it out. Relationships, it’s an organism — constantly shifting and constantly moving. We’ve been doing some really heavy-duty work together. We just got deep love for each other, and we are going to figure out what that looks like for us. A lot happened over the last two years,” she shared.
As Jada Pinkett Smith’s memoir “Worthy” continues to make waves, it’s a reminder that even in the glitzy world of Hollywood, family, love, and communication are at the heart of what truly matters.
