“Burt was an actor of tremendous emotional range,” his manager Lynda Bensky stated in a statement made available to Fox News Digital. “He could make you cry and he could scare you to death.” Bensky added, “But the real pathos that I experienced was the poignancy of his soul. That’s where it came from.”
Despite having more than 160 credits to his name, Young is most recognized for his roles in six “Rocky” films as Paulie, Sylvester Stallone’s brother-in-law. He was one of three performers, along with Tony Burton and Stallone, who returned to their roles throughout the whole franchise and was nominated for an Academy Award for his performance in the first movie.
Before attempting his hand at acting, Young did a term of duty in the US Marines and was an ardent boxer. At the Actors Studio, Lee Strasberg served as his mentor. Young painted and had work displayed in galleries all around the world in addition to acting.
