With a wider map and new gameplay elements, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is undeniably an advance over its already-acclaimed predecessors. It did, however, start missing one feature included in other titles: New Game Plus. New Game Plus has become a frequent feature in narrative-driven games, allowing players to relive the game’s story after completing it without having to restart the game from the beginning.
Marvel’s Spider-Man had New Game Plus after launch in an update with the more challenging Ultimate mode; however, its 2020 sequel Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales featured the feature from the start. The latter title also took advantage of New Game Plus to earn new skills, making the game more rewarding on a second playthrough. It also includes a Mission Replay function for those who want to revisit a certain segment of the game.
Spider-Man 2 New Game Plus Release Date
With these elements featured in Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, some were surprised that they were not present in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 when it was released nearly three years later. James Stevenson, Community Director at Insomniac Games, responded to a fan who inquired about New Game Plus and Mission Replay on X, indicating that the studio is working on an update to include this post-launch.
No – we’re working on an update for those features but they won’t be in Day 1

Stevenson went on to outline an approximate timetable for receiving this update. Those who have already finished the game will not have to wait long, since Stevenson stated that it will be available before the end of the year.
What is There To Do After Beating Spider-Man 2 Story?
Spider-Man 2 is approximately the same length as Spider-Man. The main plot takes roughly 18 hours to finish, while the Platinum award takes about 30 hours to unlock. Whether there’s much to do after the credits roll is primarily determined by whether players complete the side tasks as they unlock or wait until the plot concludes.
Many of these objectives, such as Hunter bases and Symbiote nests, cannot be revisited if players accomplished them as they were accessible, unlike opponent bases in earlier games. As a result, the only things remaining are the Mysterium challenges, which can be replayed as many times as players want to improve on their prior scores, and the randomly created city events.

Beating Spider-Man 2 Unlocks the Game Most Difficult Difficulty
After completing Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on any difficulty, the game’s harshest mode, Ultimate, becomes available. However, playing in Ultimate mode necessitates beginning a new game from scratch, as opposed to carrying over outfits, skills, gadgets, and other unlockables as the New Game Plus mode does.
While this is a fun task, the concept of starting from scratch to try it may not be appealing to everyone. Fortunately, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 supports multiple save files, so nothing is lost if players feel Ultimate is too difficult for them and wish to go back to their full game save to explore the city with all of their unlockables intact.
However, the fact that players should not have to wait too long for the introduction of New Game Plus and Mission Select is encouraging. The plot of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has been well lauded for blending massive, action-packed set pieces with plenty of heart and more character-driven moments, and with many players having already completed the game, it’s evident why fans are eager to return to it as soon as possible.
