Stephen Curry Biography
Curry is the offspring of Dell and Sonya Curry. His father was a Cleveland Cavaliers player, and he was born in Summa Akron City Hospital in Akron, Ohio. His father played NBA basketball for the Charlotte Hornets for the majority of his career, and he grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Curry and his younger brother Seth were frequently accompanied by Dell to his games, where during warm-ups they would shoot hoops with the Hornets. For a brief period, the family relocated to Toronto, where Dell played his final minutes for the Raptors.
Curry helped the Queensway Christian College boys’ basketball team go undefeated at this time by playing for them. Stephen Curry’s Professional Career
The Golden State Warriors selected Curry with the seventh overall choice in the 2009 NBA draft on June 25, 2009. During the 2009–10 season, he played in 80 games (77 starts), averaging 17.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 5.9 assists, and 1.90 steals in 36.2 minutes.
His season’s second half propelled him into the running for Rookie of the Year. Being the only rookie in the Western Conference to win the title three times, he was recognized as the January, March, and April Western Conference Rookie of the Month.
He became the first Warriors player to be named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team since Jason Richardson in 2001–02 and placed second in the NBA Rookie of the Year Award race behind Tyreke Evans.
Eight times, he scored thirty points or more, setting a record for the most 30-point games by a rookie in 2009–10 and the most since Carmelo Anthony scored ten in 2003–04 and LeBron James scored thirteen.
Curry tied Michael Jordan for the second-most 30-point/10-assist games by a rookie with his five of those performances (Oscar Robertson leads with 25). On February 10, he recorded his first career triple-double with 36 points, 13 assists, and 10 rebounds against the Los Angeles Clippers, making history as just the sixth rookie in NBA history to achieve a 35-point, 10-assist, 10-rebound performance.
When Curry scored a then-career-high 42 points, nine rebounds, and eight assists in the Warriors’ season-ending victory over the Portland Trail Blazers on April 14, he became the only rookie to do so since Robertson in February 1961. Curry’s 166 three-pointers at the end of his rookie year were the most by a rookie in NBA history.
