Buddy Matthews is still going strong in 2023, often competing for various U.S.-based promotions, even if he and his fiancée no longer share a locker room. Enterprising WWE fans will recall that Buddy spent almost eight years wrestling as Buddy Murphy, beginning in NXT and eventually making his way to the main roster.
Buddy is one of the few former WWE Superstars who has defeated Seth Rollins, the current World Heavyweight Champion, in a decisive manner. In 2020, Buddy achieved a crucial victory over Rollins while involved in a plot involving Rey Mysterio, his daughter, and his son, Dominik Mysterio! It’s funny how things work out in life sometimes, isn’t it?
Although Buddy’s victory against Rollins is likely the greatest of his WWE career, he first gained notoriety in the Cruiserweight class by engaging in numerous thrilling bouts with Superstars like Tony Nese, Mustafa Ali, and Cedric Alexander. His quick reflexes, powerful in-ring style, and remarkable build propelled him into the top tier of competitors from the start.

How Long Have Rhea Ripley and Buddy Matthews Been Together?
Buddy and Rhea started dating in May 2020. Their innate chemistry and shared love of the sports entertainment business, like most wrestling couples, created a bond that is obviously not going to break anytime soon!
Although the WWE Universe adores Rhea and Dom-Dom together on TV, it’s exciting to think that Buddy might rejoin the company. Rhea mentioned getting back together in the WWE with her now-fiance during an interview earlier this year.
In April 2023, Rhea said, “Maybe, maybe.” “So, I’m very convincing. I’m a very convincing girl, you know? I normally get what I want. So, it might happen, you never know. But right now I’m happy with my Dom-Dom. I’m happy going out there with him and Finn and Damian. I mean, you never know what the future holds. It might happen.”
We believe there is plenty of potential for Buddy to return to WWE alongside Rhea because of the pairings of Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins, Carmella and Corey Graves, and other successful WWE couples. Buddy would be ideal for Judgment Day, but don’t tell Dominik Mysterio we said that.
