Eilish released the song “Ocean Eyes” on November 18, 2015. Finneas composed, mixed, and produced the song. He had initially written it for his band, the Slightlys, but thought Eilish’s voice would work better on it. When Eilish’s dance instructor at the Revolution Dance Center requested that they write a song for choreography, he gave it to her.

After the song garnered hundreds of thousands of plays in just two weeks, Finneas’s manager, Danny Rukasin, contacted him to talk about Eilish’s potential.
