Elder Kearon met Brigham Young University in Provo student Jennifer Hulme two years following his conversion. She was on a six-month study abroad program in London. Before moving to Utah when he was appointed as a General Authority Seventy, the pair lived in England for 19 years after getting married in the Oakland, California, temple in 1991. Elizabeth, Susannah, Emma, and Sean (who passed away in infancy) are their four children.
Patrick Kearon Professional Life
After holding the Europe Area Presidency in Germany for five years, Elder Patrick Kearon joined the Presidency of the Seventy in 2017. August 2020 saw the appointment of him as senior president of the Seventy. He presently helps Elder D. Todd Christofferson oversee the Utah Area, and Elder David A. Bednar leads the Middle East/Africa North Area.
He has operated his own communications consultancy and has lived and worked in a variety of businesses in the US, Saudi Arabia, the UK, and the US. He has served on the boards of several organizations, educational institutions, business associations, and colleges as part of his civic and communal commitment.
Patrick Kearon Biography
Patrick Kearon is an apostle of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) and was born on July 18, 1961. He joined the Presidency of the Seventy in August 2017 and served as its member until December 2023.
He has been a general authority of the church since 2010. Following the establishment of the Presidency of the Seventy in 1975, Kearon became the first person to be born outside of the United States to hold the position of senior president on August 1, 2020.
Kearon is recognized as a prophet, seer, and revelator by the LDS Church and is a member of the Quorum of the Twelve. He is currently the church’s junior and fifteenth most senior apostle.

Patrick Kearon LDS Church Service
Kearon has served as an area seventy and the president of the Bristol England Stake in the LDS Church. In October 2010, Kearon gave his first speech to the general conference, during which he discussed receiving spiritual healing by Jesus Christ’s atonement.
Kearon was residing in the English town of Clevedon, which is located in North Somerset, at the time of his summons as a general authority. He was named associate executive director of the church’s media services and priestly divisions in 2011.
Prior to taking over as the area’s president in August 2015, he worked as a counselor in the church’s Europe Area presidency from August 2012 to August 2015.
The announcement came out in May 2017 that Kearon would join the Presidency of the Seventy on August 1st, and he would be in charge of the church’s North America West and North America Northwest regions.
“Religious freedom means nothing if you protect your religious practice while neglecting the practice of others, especially those who might be less secure and able to defend themselves,” asserts Kearon, a vociferous advocate on the subject of religious freedom.
It is only effective when everyone’s rights are upheld.” At a summit of the European Union in 2016, he spoke to representatives of the European Commission and requested help during the refugee crisis.
Regarding his work with refugees, Kearon was noted in a New York Times opinion piece as saying, “Their story is our story, not that many years ago.” As the president of the church’s Europe Area, Kearon led efforts inside the church to support already-existing refugee assistance programs in addition to launching new ones.
