Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner Divorce
After four years of marriage, Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner are getting a divorce. After almost three years of dating, the singer and the former Game of Thrones star got married in 2019 and welcomed two daughters, Willa and Delphine.
Early in September, Jonas filed for divorce from Turner, stating that “the marriage between the parties is irretrievably broken.” Not long after, the couple announced their divorce as “a united decision” in a joint social media statement.
But on September 21, Turner filed a lawsuit in Manhattan asking for their two children to be sent back to England. This is when things started to change. The couple worked out a temporary parenting arrangement for their two daughters at the beginning of October.

Joe and Sophie Issue Statement
Turner and Jonas confirmed the news with a “statement from the two of us” posted on their Instagram profiles the day after the divorce was filed.
“After four wonderful years of marriage, we have mutually decided to end our marriage amicably,” the statement read. “There are many speculative narratives as to why, but truly, this is a united decision, and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children.”
Sophie Sues Joe, Asks to Return Kids to England
Turner sued Jonas on September 21, claiming that the singer had the kids “wrongfully removed or wrongfully detained” since September 20 and requesting that he return them to their permanent home in England.
The actress stated in the complaint, which Rolling Stone was able to receive, that she and Jonas had decided to make England their “forever home” in December 2022 and that, prior to her summertime filming of Joan, she was in the process of purchasing a house in April.
The lawsuit claimed that “[Jonas] refuses to return the passports to [Turner] and refuses to send the children home to England.” The complaint further stated that Turner and Jonas had decided to let the kids travel with him while Jonas was on tour since he had “periods of the day to spend time with the children,” despite Turner’s “some hesitation,” according to the suit.
The filing stated, “The parties’ agreed plan was that the mother would travel to New York to collect the children and return home to England when she finished filming on September 14, 2023.” The parties had agreed that the mother would visit the family in New York for a week before leaving on September 20 to take the kids back to England.
The divorce was said to have “happened very suddenly” following a disagreement on August 15. Turner “found out through the media” that Jonas had filed for divorce on or around September 1st, according to the document.
