What is Kyte Baby?

The scandal surrounding the well-known baby apparel brand Kyte Baby has everyone on TikTok talking. According to two apologetic videos released by Kyte Baby creator Ying Liu, the company turned down a new mother’s request to work remotely while she was taking care of her premature infant in the NICU.

Customers are threatening to boycott, and Kyte said in a statement to TODAY.com that the employee has “declined” their offer to rejoin the business. Sleep sacks and baby clothes made of bamboo are available from Kyte Baby.

When Liu’s adoptive baby was in the NICU at a Texas hospital, an employee called Marissa requested if she could work remotely. Liu responded negatively and later regretted her choice.

Kyte Baby Controversy and the Apologies

“Hey guys, it’s Ying. I wanted to hop on here to sincerely apologize to Marissa for how her parental leave was communicated and handled in the midst of her incredible journey of adoption and starting a family,” Liu said in a video with two million views that was posted to Kyte Baby’s official TikTok account on Jan. 18. “I have been trying to reach out to her to apologize directly as well.”

As Liu put it, Kyte Baby “prides itself on being a family-oriented company” and treats “biological and non-biological parents equally.” Liu expressed regret to her clients and pledged to audit Kyte’s personnel procedures in order to “avoid hurting our staff and our community in the future.”

On TikTok, the speech received negative feedback from users who said Liu sounded forced and unnatural. In videos, dozens of mothers declared that although they had been devoted Kyte clients, they would now forsake the business.

Later on that day, Liu apologized again on social media, claiming that her initial effort “wasn’t sincere.” In the second apology, Liu stated, “Okay, I’m going to do this.” “I just apologized officially on TikTok. It was staged, as the commentators accurately pointed out. I committed it to memory. I’ve opted to deviate from the script since I essentially read it, and it wasn’t sincere.” Liu claimed that she decided on Marissa’s request in a “terrible” way.
