Julio Jones Injury Alters Eagles’ Game Plan (Latest Updates)

The Philadelphia Eagles went into Monday night’s Wild Card game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers without WR1 A.J. Brown. Their wideout depth may have taken a knock during the second quarter of tonight’s game when teammate pass catcher Julio Jones appeared to be injured.

Julio Jones’s Injury Update

About five minutes remained in the first half when Jones took a shot from Bucs defensive back Zyon McCollum, which caused him to get rattled up. He had to be helped off the field and went straight to the blue medical tent on Philadelphia’s sideline.

The Eagles stated that Jones was being evaluated for a concussion. He was declared out for the rest of the game at halftime.

With Brown out due to a knee injury, Jones started opposite DeVonta Smith on Monday night. He had three catches for 22 yards before leaving.

Jones, 34, joined the Eagles’ practice squad in mid-October and completed his elevations before being elevated to the team’s active roster. He completed the season with 11 receptions for 74 yards and three touchdowns on 19 targets. Jones had over 30 snaps in just two games.

Smith, Olamide Zaccheaus, Quez Watkins, and Britain Covey are still on Philadelphia’s WR depth chart and will see additional opportunities with Jones and Brown out. The Eagles could potentially use multiple tight-end combinations, including Dallas Goedert, Jack Stoll, and Grant Calcaterra.
