Soap opera star David Gail, who was noted for his roles in “Beverly Hills, 90210” and the “General Hospital” spinoff “Port Charles,” passed away on January 20, 2024. His age was 58.
The news was given via Peter Ferriero’s Instagram Story on Saturday, January 20. Ferriero conducts a podcast where people replay Beverly Hills, 90210. Viewers were compelled to seek out the news online after Peter Ferriero, co-host of a “Beverly Hills, 90210” revisit podcast with Charles Rosin and Larry Mollin, paid tribute to Gail in a recent episode.
“Was just told by his friends that our David Gail has passed away,” Ferriero wrote his followers. “I’m so upset by this news. So grateful I had the opportunity to chat with him.”
“There’s barely been even a day in my life when you were not with me by my side,” wrote Gail’s sister Katie Colmenares in an Instagram post that reported her brother’s death on Saturday.
She continued, “Always my wingman always my best friend ready to face anything and anyone w me the bears will never be the same but I will hold you so tight every day in my heart you gorgeous loving amazing fierce human being missing you every second of every day forever there will never be another.”
No formal announcement has been made regarding his cause of death.
“For those that have contacted me ‘Why is this not showing up on Google?’ Please stop,” Ferriero wrote in an Instagram Story on Saturday. “The family will report it at the appropriate time to them. I am sharing what I’ve been told to make sure his fans know what has happened. Thank you.”
In “Port Charles,” Gail played Dr. Joe Scanlon, and in “Beverly Hills, 90210,” she played Stuart Carson, who was formerly engaged to Brenda Walsh (Shannen Doherty).

During an April 2021 visit to Ferriero’s podcast, Gail mentioned working on “90210” “I have to say thank you to you guys for what you wrote, what you produced [and] all the ideas. That was something I’m really grateful for.”
“Growing Pains,” “Doogie Howser, M.D.,” “Murder, She Wrote,” and “Matlock” were among the series in which the actor began his career. He was born and raised in Tampa, Florida.
His previous television appearances include “JAG,” “Robin Hoods,” “Savannah,” and “The Round Table.” He voiced Sam in 2019’s “Blacksad: Under the Skin,” his final acting role.
According to his IMDB page, Gail was born in 1965 in Tampa, Florida. He has an early 1990s appearance history that includes shows like Growing Pains, Doogie Howser, M.D., and Murder, She Wrote.
Bending All the Rules, a romantic comedy from 2002, featured him alongside Bradley Cooper and Colleen Porch. Perfect Opposites (2004) is one of his other cinematic performances.
As far as Gail’s IMDB credits go, his latest appearance was as Sam’s voice actor in the Windows, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch adventure game Blacksad: Under the Skin.
