Officials have thrown further information on Tyler Christopher’s terrible demise. According to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office, the General Hospital alum died on Oct. 31, 2023, at age 50, of positional asphyxia caused by acute alcohol intoxication, with coronary artery atherosclerosis as a contributing factor.
Tyler’s cause of death was detailed in an autopsy report acquired by E! News, which stated that he was last seen on October 30 “heavily intoxicated.” When a friend went to check on him the next day, the soap opera star was found motionless by his bed in a “position that would compromise his breathing,” according to the report.
A forensic pathologist identified stiffness in Tyler’s coronary arteries as well as fatty liver alteration during his postmortem. The findings were characterized in the report as the effects of “natural disease.” At the same time, a toxicology test revealed a blood alcohol level of 0.327 percent and no narcotics or pharmaceuticals in his system.
According to the study, Tyler died by accident “based on the autopsy findings and the circumstances surrounding the death.”
