Chris Canty and Melanie Renee started dating in 2018 and made their relationship public in 2019. They spent time getting to know each other well before deciding to move forward. Everything went great for them, and they got engaged in 2021.

Melanie Renee Richards was born on December 18, 1987, in Illinois. She is the only child of her parents, Joshua Richards and Eleanor Framere Richards.
Her grandparents, Ozzie and Odeal Ross, moved to Chicago during the Great Migration. They started their family there, and that’s where Melanie grew up.
Melanie Renee Professional Life
Melanie Richards finished her college degree in accounting from Hampton University in 2010. During her college years, she did internships at Walgreens and at a big company called PricewaterhouseCoopers.
After college, she worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers from 2010 to 2015 as a financial management consultant. In 2015, she went back to school at the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business.
While studying for her MBA, which she got in 2017, Melanie also studied luxury brand management in France at ESSEC Business School in 2016. This study was part of an exchange program and helped her with her internship at a fancy part of L’Oréal called Lancôme Skincare.
After finishing her MBA, Melanie started working at L’Oréal in New York. She first worked as the chief of staff for L’Oréal Luxe until 2019, and then as a marketing director for ULTA.
In January 2020, she switched jobs within L’Oréal to work at IT Cosmetics, focusing on skincare and makeup. Now, she’s the marketing director for complexion products and works in New Jersey.
