Born in 1999 in Kenya’s Keiyo District, Kelvin quickly made a name for himself by setting a record in his first major marathon in Valencia in 2022. He nearly beat the world record in London and then broke it in Chicago in October 2023, becoming the fastest marathon runner ever.
Kelvin’s journey from a simple background to fame was supported by his family and coach, Gervais Hakizimana. Unfortunately, he and his coach died in a car accident, leaving many saddened.
Beyond his speed, Kelvin was known for being kind, always smiling, and encouraging young Kenyan runners. Despite his early death, he showed how far hard work can take you.
Kelvin won’t just be remembered for running fast but also for being a great person who added joy to the sport. His life reminds us that sometimes the most inspirational figures are taken from us too soon, but their influence endures.
