He even wrote a book about his battle with cancer, though it hasn’t been published yet, titled “Cancer Saved My Life (Cancer Ain’t For No Wimps).” He mentioned this book when he danced to “Amazing Grace” on Dancing with the Stars.
After helping with the Hurricane Katrina clean-up in 2005, he decided to stop wearing his famous gold jewelry. He felt that wearing gold would be wrong and disrespectful to those who lost everything in the hurricane, as it went against his Christian beliefs.
