Now that the season is over, you’re probably thinking to yourself “When does the NFL Draft start?”. The 2024 NFL Draft is set to kick off on April 25th in Detroit and there are tons of high-impact players available across a whole host of important positions.
As we look ahead, even though the Draft is still two months away, it’s interesting to note that odds for the 2024 NFL Draft are already being featured on betting apps like Fanduel.
Today, we will be looking at six of the top 2024 NFL Draft prospects. Instead of just reading the first names of our big board, we’ll be going by position group to give you a broader stroke of what the top end of the 2024 Draft has to offer.
Quarterback – Caleb Williams (USC)
Draft Range – 1st to 2nd Overall
An elite playmaker with his arm as well as his legs, Williams has shown a knack for being the ultimate improviser, a trait that has many comparing the young signal-caller out of USC to 3x Super Bowl Champion Patrick Mahomes. Whether he lives up to the hype remains to be seen, but Williams is a surefire lock to be either the first or second pick in this Draft.
Skill Position – Marvin Harrison Jr. (Ohio State)
Draft Range – Top Five
The son of one of the best wide receivers in NFL history, Marvin Harrison Jr. has many of the same elite traits as his old man, all packed into a much larger 6-foot-4 208-pound frame. A great route runner with reliable hands and a knack for finding the endzone, Harrison Jr. has all the skills to be a top wide receiver in the league for the next decade in beyond and could be the highest WR taken in the Draft since Calvin Johnson in 2007.
Offensive Line – Joe Alt (Notre Dame)
Draft Range – 5 to 10
An absolute mountain of a man at 6-foot-7 322 pounds, Joe Alt is one of the most polished and technically sound linemen to come out of college in recent years. A 2x All-American at Notre Dame, Alt should have no trouble coming into the NFL and immediately holding down a starting job at either tackle spot.
Defensive Line – Jer’Zhan Newton (Illinois)
Draft Range – Top 15
Despite being undersized for a defensive tackle, Jer’Zhan Newton is a relentless ball of energy who has the potential to be one of the best interior pass rushers in football. The reigning Big 10 Defensive Player of the Year at Illinois, Newton has a great technical foundation and should thrive on any team looking to pressure the QB more down the middle.
Linebacker – Jeremiah Trotter Jr. (Clemson)
Draft Range – 2nd to 3rd Round
This isn’t exactly the best year for Drafting linebackers, but there are still a few names on Draft boards that really catch the eye, and none more so than Jeremiah Trotter Jr. out of Clemson. Not exactly the largest linebacker, Trotter Jr. does struggle somewhat versus the run, but, in a league dominated by elite QBs, his elite football IQ and knack for breaking up throws over the middle should help him be an impact player from day one.
Secondary – Terrion Arnold (Alabama)
Draft Range – Top 15
After transitioning from safety to cornerback Terrion Arnold broke out last season to become one of the best defensive backs in the country. With great size, and elite top-line speed, Arnold has the physical skills to become an elite CB1 in the NFL, but he’ll need to round out other aspects of his game to shine as a star truly.
