Kingdom: Ashin of the North is a special episode that will expand the view of the Kingdom zombie horror series. Kim Seong-hun directed Kingdom: Ashin of the North. He also supervised the production of the first season of Kingdom. Kim Eun-hee has written the screenplay of this episode.

He is the one who also wrote the script of the first two seasons. In an interview, Kim Eun-hee said, ” I decided to go with a special episode because I thought it would be more interesting. We cannot leave out the story of the resurrection plant.” She further added that” If the first season served as the cornerstone of the show, Kingdom: Ashin of the North, will be a stepping stone for the third season of Kingdom.”

In the upcoming episode, Kingdom fans can see a glance at the teaser released by Netflix. From the teaser, we can see young Ashin holding a torch and going into an eerie cave in the dark.

Release Date: When will it premiere?

Netflix has officially announced the release date of Kingdom: Ashin of the north. It will be available on Netflix all over the world on Friday, July 23, 2021. In January after the incident when a section of a castle burned down during the shooting. Makers of Ashin of the North kept the release date a secret. Although, the production team confirmed the official premiere date after some time.

Who will be in the cast?

In an official announcement, only a few cast is released for the Ashin of the north: Gianna Jun, also known as Jun Ji-Hyun will play the role of strange Ashin. We will see Park Byung -Eun coming back as the Royal Commandery Min Chi-Rok

We will also have a supporting cast -Kim Si-a, Kim Roi- ha, and Koo Kyo-hwan.

What will be the story all about?

We will see the story of Gianna Jun, the strange woman whom we saw in the ending scene of season 2. In this episode, we will see that it will take “place in the Northern Korean Peninsula”.We will know more about Gianna Jun who is the boss of the Royal Commandery.

Kim Eun Hee, screenwriter, and Kim Sung Hoon, director of Ashin of the North at a recent event in South Korea said, ” We cannot leave out the story of the saengsacho (the resurrection plant). I decided to go with a special episode because I thought it would be more interesting.”Kim Sung Hoon further said,” If the first season served as the cornerstone of the world,’ Kingdom: Ashin of the North’ will be a stepping stone to go beyond ‘Kingdom 3.”

At the end of season two, we’ve seen that Seo-bi and Chang found the resurrection plant close to the Chinese border. According to the villagers, someone from China is selling these plants.
