This article includes every detail we know so far about The Blacklist season 9, including its plot, cast and characters, release date, trailer, and much more.

The Blacklist Season 9 Release Date

The Blacklist was renewed for the ninth season on 26 January 2021. However, it is not confirmed yet that it will be the final season. During the arrival of the 8th season, we saw that Season 8 hit the US screens in November 2020, three months prior to the release in the UK.

This dictates that season 9 will arrive in the second half of this year in the US, while British fans will have to wait for 2022. Anticipating the series’s schedule, we expect the show to be released in December 2021 or January 2022.

The Blacklist Season 9 Cast

The Blacklist is a crime thriller show based on the life of an FBI agent Elizabeth keen. The show revolves around multiple mysteries, and it is a multicast show.

In season 8, it was seen that Megan Boone was hit, and she bled out. The news is that she will not feature in her character Liz for season 9. Katarina Rostova is the next name who will not be seen in season 9.

But the major name to leave the show is the show creator Jon Bokenkamp. The co-showrunner John Eisendrath remains attached to the show.

The other cast members will be James Spader, Donald Ressler, Harold Cooper, Alina Park, Dembe Zuma, and Aram Mojtabai.

The Plot

The Blacklist follows the story of an FBI agent Elizabeth Keen whose life is turned upside down when a mysterious criminal, Raymond Reddington, from decades back turns himself in and insists on speaking only to her.

Raymond Reddington is played by James Spader, who is a dangerous criminal and eluded capture for many years. The story turns up interesting as the show moves further, which has led to the creation of eight seasons so far.

At the end of season 8, we saw Liz finding out the truth behind Raymond Reddington. The fact turns out that there has been an imposter Raymond Reddington and that the real Reddington shares a relationship with Liz’s mother.

We also saw that Liz shoots her father to protect her mother, and during the struggle, she and Katarina get burnt in the fire created by the knocked-over candle.

The show started with the dynamic between Reddington and Elizabeth, but the narrative has changed as the show moved eight years further. As a result, the series will need a new focus, which is likely to be Reddington’s quest for revenge for his daughter’s murder or protecting Liz’s daughter Agnes.

As Elizabeth is already dead in season 8, Reddington might be blamed for the charges. We will get insights and plots as soon as any trailer reveals itself. As of now, we can get multiple plots and storylines by the finale of season 8.

All the seasons till now have 22 episodes with a runtime of 40 to 45 minutes. We are expecting the same for season 9 with John Eisendrath as the showrunner.

The trivia about the show

The show has been run by multiple cast members along with a perfect creative team. The popular television network NBC has streamed the seasons till now, and the same is expected for season 9. However, if you want to binge-watch the previous seasons, Netflix is always there.

The hotspot gossip about the show is that the main character Megan Boone is leaving the show as her character has been shot dead, and with her, the show bids goodbye to the original show creator Jon Bokenkamp.
