TVN’s Alchemy Of Souls, which starred K-drama superstar Lee Jae Wook, Go Yoon Jung, and Hwang Minhyun, took viewers to the enchanted land of Daeho and told a swoon-worthy larger-than-life love story that transcends obligations and power battles.
Awakening the Firebird
Jin Mu plans to awaken the firebird, which will engulf the entire planet in flames but is misled by his desire for power and his need to obtain the ice stone. He conspires with the king and other members of the unanimous assembly to attack Jinyowon and seize the firebird’s egg.
To prevent it from crumbling and stop the relics from escaping, Lady Jin and Kim Yeon enter Jinyowon. However, Lady Jin’s might was insufficient, so Songrim’s Park Jin had to enter and lock the gate. The two women appear to be stuck inside and de@d at that point, but viewers learn later that Buyeon saved them by arriving just in time.

As the primary conspirator departs with the fire bird’s egg, Park Jin struggles with Jin Mu but is ultimately defeated after being stabbed. As Jin Mu’s well-executed plot was playing out exactly as he had hoped, Jang Uk returns to Daeho and decides to awaken the firebird first, allowing them to alter the course of events.
Jin Mu and every member of a unanimous assembly are burned alive due to Jang Uk’s rage.
Jang Uk and Naksu’s Happily Ever After
At their meeting in Danhyanggok, Jang Uk and Naksu accepted their history and present. Master Lee later assists with their marriage, and light and shadow discover their shared destiny during the most romantic wedding ceremony. But later, as Buyeon takes control, Naksu recalls only a tiny portion of her previous recollection with Jang Uk.
Buyeon departs the body and returns it to Naksu/Cho Yeong when Jang Uk and Naksu (Cho Yeong) save the world. Our power couple occasionally climbs up to the tree in Danhyanggok to watch the world below while on a joint treasure hunt for artifacts.

When they have the firebird, Jang-uk discloses the startling reality. The trio is still alive after all! The UK has tilted the scales back in their favor. In the following scene, we see Ho-gyeong unharmed by a few wounds and bruises. In reality, Bu-yeon built a door for her to pass through to enter Jinyowon from Danhyanggok.
She was able to save the two women by preventing Jinyowon from collapsing. While Park-jin was at Cheonbugwan, Lee went there as directed and discovered Park-jin but no firebird.
Park-jin was able to be saved and kept from dying from his wounds. That evening, Jang-uk walks up to visit Bu-yeon and remarks that even though they were never meant to be together, they still fell in love. I adore you. Before tumbling into Uk’s arms, Bu-yeon says.
Does the Crown Prince Fulfill His Destiny?
The Prince receives the gold plaque from Uk when she arrives with it, restoring him to the position he was always destined to have. Uk cedes control to him, pointing out that he’s already reached the highest point with the person he desires.
As they get ready to crack open the egg and awaken the firebird, Jin-mu keeps playing with the snake, whispering in the King’s ear and gathering the Unanimous Assembly. But Jang-uk is prepared, and he has his ideas about how to stop the bird.
As the day goes to night, the Prince appears with the Gold Plaque and informs the King that the person born beneath the King’s Star will thwart Jin-evil mu’s plans to harm everyone, even Cheonbugwan. Songrim battles against waves of magicians while pleading with the King to back off (after k*lling 78 of them in the last episode, I should add!).
Seo Yul is the New Master and the Crown Prince Becomes the King
As Seo Yul takes over as the mages’ new trainer and the crown prince assumes the throne, Songrim experiences peace. A year later, Park Dang Gu and Jin Choyeon had twin boys, and Park Jin and Kim Yeon were frequently left to watch them. With the best leaders ensuring peace, Daeho achieves it happily ever after.

Then we fast-forward to a year later. While caring for the two adorable children of Cho-yeon and Dang-gu, Kim tells Park-jin she is expecting. Dang-gu and Cho-yeon are still going strong. Given that Yul is now in charge of recruiting students for Jeongjingak and is admitting applicants of any stature, many kids are looking to apply.

As before, the Crown Prince is the current monarch, and they are pursuing the artifacts that have eluded Jinyowon. Although 12 have been collected so far, there are still more. As for our pair, Jang-uk and Bu-yeon enjoy the best possible life together while defending the realm and collecting these artifacts. However, they will return for the twins’ birthday.
Alchemy of Souls Season 2 Review
Alchemy of Souls concludes with a satisfying resolution because everything is resolved and none of our primary cast members—at least not the nice guys—die. With the passing of Jin-mu, the Unanimous Assembly, the King, and the Queen, the lineage is now in the capable hands of the Crown Prince, who is now, obviously, the new King.
He has demonstrated this season that he is more than qualified to step forward and guide the Kingdom. With Yul off training the next generation and Bu-yeon and Jang-uk both collecting the Jinyowon treasures while staying together, the remaining characters also receive satisfying endings.
The yin and yang energy, mentioned multiple times during this season, is also present, with Uk and Naksu represented as the light and shadow. This second season is far from ideal, and the pacing has occasionally been off. Despite that, there is still plenty to like here, and viewers should be happy with how this one finishes.
