Editor’s note: The original November 2022 version of this article was lost. The Lee Daily Register rebuilt it in October 2026 from the sources cited below. The original version described Tiantian Kullander’s net worth as $3 billion, and other outlets repeated that figure citing this site. That was wrong: $3 billion was the reported valuation of his company, Amber Group. His personal fortune has never been made public.

Tiantian Kullander, a co-founder of the crypto trading firm Amber Group, has died. He died in his sleep on Nov. 23, the company said in a statement reported by The Block. No cause of death was given. He was 30, according to The National Desk.

Kullander, known to colleagues as “TT,” helped start Amber in 2017 after working on the trading floors of Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley, according to The Block. He also sat on the board of the esports organization Fnatic and founded KeeperDAO, a decentralized finance project. Amber said he is survived by his wife and son.

What was his net worth?

There is no public figure for Kullander’s personal wealth. The number most often attached to his name, $3 billion, is what investors valued his company at, not what he owned.

That valuation came from a $200 million funding round in February 2022 led by Temasek, the Singapore-based sovereign wealth fund, The Block reported at the time. Sequoia China, Pantera Capital, Tiger Global Management, True Arrow Partners and Coinbase Ventures also took part, bringing Amber’s total funding to $328 million.

A company’s valuation is not the same as a founder’s fortune. Kullander’s ownership stake in Amber was not disclosed in any of the reporting cited here. Any dollar figure for his personal net worth would be a guess.

What Amber Group does

At the time of the February 2022 raise, Amber described itself as a provider of trading liquidity, market-making, structured products and advisory services, with more than 1,000 institutional clients and over $5 billion in assets under management. It also ran a consumer app, WhaleFin, according to The Block.

What happened next

Several U.S. television stations ran a National Desk story about Kullander’s death in December 2022 that repeated the $3 billion figure as his net worth, citing this site. As noted above, that figure was the company’s valuation.

Amber later took part of its business public. Its wealth management arm merged with iClick Interactive Asia Group, and the combined company, renamed Amber International Holding, began trading on the Nasdaq under the ticker AMBR in March 2025, The Block reported.
